A real chunk of that edge has nothing to do with raw aim. It comes from your Valorant settings and the PC running them. Gear sets the floor, not the ceiling
Here is the part most settings guides skip. Dialing in your config and running a capable PC removes the technical stuff dragging you down: the input lag, the frame drops, and the particle effects washing out an enemy model. What it does not do is make better decisions for you. Crosshair placement, knowing when to take a fight, how to hold an angle, and reading the economy do not live in your video settings.
The gear gets you in the door, but game knowledge is what helps you climb. Sensitivity, eDPI, and your mouse
Your aim is only as good as your ability to repeat it, and that starts with sensitivity.
eDPI is the number that actually matters. It is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity, and it is how you compare setups apple to apple. 800 DPI at 0.4 and 400 DPI at 0.8 both land at 320 eDPI and feel identical in-game. The pro average sits around 267 eDPI, which works out to roughly 45 centimeters of mousepad for a full 360 turn. Most pros live in the 200 to 400 range, and the 2026 trend leans slightly lower as crosshair placement gets valued over flashy flicks.
Start at 800 DPI with an in-game sens between 0.3 and 0.4, then adjust in small steps until your crosshair stops overshooting. Once it feels right, leave it alone. Constantly changing sensitivity is the fastest way to never build muscle memory.
A few hardware notes. Run your mouse at 1000Hz polling, give yourself a large mousepad so you have room for that low sens, and turn off mouse acceleration in Windows so the same hand movement always travels the same distance. For your crosshair, a small static dot or cross in a high-contrast color like cyan or yellow stays visible without covering up heads at range.
A repeatable sensitivity only handles the mechanical half of aiming, though. Building a PC for consistent Valorant frames

The CPU is your priority
Valorant is CPU-dependent, not GPU-dependent. If you have dropped every graphics setting to Low, turned on Reflex, and you are still stuck under 200 FPS, your processor is almost always the bottleneck. GPU, RAM, and storage

If your frames still drop
Two culprits cause most of it. Thermal throttling is the first. If your CPU is hitting 90C mid-match, your frames will tank, and the fix is airflow, not settings. Background software is the second. Discord overlays, Steam, and Xbox Game Bar all pile on overhead and input lag, so close what you are not using before you blame your hardware.
Treat your setup like a build you keep tuning
None of this is a one-time setup. Riot patches the game, hardware moves, and your own skill changes what you need from your configuration. The players who stay consistent are the ones who keep tweaking, retesting a sensitivity after a slump, flipping a setting back on to check whether it actually helped, and upgrading the one part that holds their frames back.
